Fashion and Accessories
Discreet City / Octavius Williams

We got some feedback from some of our readers who stated they would like to see more men’s fashions and accessories.  For a man like myself who goes shopping like once every three years,  I still like to look my best.  I try to keep an eye out for certain trends (l even signed up for the Perry Ellis email notifications) to see if I already have something in my wardrobe, that I can pull off as a reasonable up to date substitute.

I do have to admit, I’m an accessory challenged man.  I usually shy aware from and frown upon the typical silver thumb and pinky rings that many gay dudes wear, but I still know that nothing can pull an outfit together like the right accessories.

So in my quest to fulfill the requests of some of our readers and to prove I do have an EYE for fashion and what’s hip (or at least what looks cool), check out the below fashionable items that may can compliment your existing wardrobe.

Feel free to leave your feed back to let me know if I am on point with my selections or if I missed the mark and my taste sucks.

For someone who shops every three years, your taste is pretty good. In 2013, I was inspired to care more about fashion, accessories and grooming. I think it is good to have an idea about how to put things together while shopping AND think about what is already in your wardrobe that can match with what you're buying at the mall. People will think that you never wear the same thing twice if you simply learn how to MIX AND MATCH!!!

One thing that helped me to get my fashion game up was to get some magazines like the GQ magazine that featured Russell Westbrook. I got inspired by his style in the mag and by the other models, actors, etc in there as well. Also, visit places like jackthreads.com and just see what you have a taste for. It is all about trial and error. With time, we will all develop our own personal style. I am aiming to have a personal style that is not only classy but it can also be cool, chic, urban and a mix of all the things I like.

OMG. First I want to say thanks for posting this. I live in Atlanta (fairly new to the city) I find it hard to buy clothes and accessories here. I loveee your selection. This just goes to show you that everyday Black Gay Men like to look nice too. Great Job !!!

P.S. I will be going to www.amazon.com right now just so you know. lol

Amazon is my spot! lol
But be careful, you can get carried away because they make shopping so easy. I just got my new addidas superstar sneakers in the mail along with some other goodies I just decided to grab on the go..And buying sexy underwear online is the way to go!

As for the fashion, I'm a pretty simple guy. Luckily for me I have a body that will look good in most clothes (hehe). So I don't go hard on the trendy items. I prefer a simple clean look when I'm out and about. I don't like to look like I'm trying too hard to impress anyone.
Besides, I hate all that "extra gay" shit most gay dudes tend to rock. Just give me clean, simple and masculine style.

Ocky::::: I may have to cop that striped hoody. And I'm a sucker for Addidas, I have atleast 7 pairs in my closet. but I don't have those Falcon Elites. They're hot!

For you Amazon fanatics (like myself), who enjoy online shopping over the typical in-store mall madness, I would highly recommend you invest into a Amazon Prime membership (which includes Free 2-Day Shipping on any Prime item). And considering Amazon offers the best deals and widest selection of quality items online, its definitely a worthy investment.

With that said, this is a excellent selection of casual clothing gear for the fella who still wants to be "well" dressed, but not "over" dressed.
A few additions I would add..

CHAIN/NECKLACE (no 2chainz fuckery here)
- Keep it simple.
- Add one basic attachment/pendant (cross, dog tag, etc)
- Stick with casual colors (platinum/silver preferably)
- Keep it no longer than upper chest length.

Bow Ties (its not a Urkel thing any more).
- Bow Ties are awesome, that is all.

HATS (the male equivalent of weave)
- A well fitted, fitted/snapback can do wonders for a mans skull
- Color coordinate ya head gear, with ya sneaker gear (top/bottom)
- Don't fear the the fedora (at least with the right attire)
- Stray away from Beanies and God forbid.. Durags (ugh).

SCARFS (its nothing sexy about a man with strep throat).
- With it being winter time and all, fellas need to strap up that neck.
- Arab/Keffiyeh Scarfs are still a good look for the more trendy type
- Long Wool Scarfs are cool (and warm), but keep them basic.
- If it looks like something your Great Granny knitted, stay away.

And most importantly, MAKE SURE YOU CLOTHING IS WELL FITTED. I'm not talking about spandex tight or ball squeezing skinny, but just form fitted (where folks can actually tell you have a body under all that clothing). If you still look like you're wearing a gown when you put on a tee, or resemble a MC-Hammer back up dancer (circa 1992) when you put on some pants.. than you're truly failing at life (especially in 2013).
